Privacy at Jam Near Me
Last updated July 30, 2026
Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Jam Near Me handles information when you use our website, mobile apps, public map, accounts, venue tools, moderation forms, and related services. Public discovery remains available without creating an account.
Information we collect
- Account data: user ID, email, display name, authentication provider, security factors, and session information.
- Consumer activity: saved events and venues, account choices, and support requests.
- Location: foreground device coordinates when you grant permission, plus a town or search area you choose.
- Submissions: event suggestions, corrections, reports, notes, source links, and optional contact details.
- Venue data: public business details, events, photos, venue memberships, claims, listing requests, and private proof.
- Usage data: limited product interactions, platform, surface, target event or venue, and operational request data.
How we use information
- Authenticate accounts, persist sessions, and protect sensitive actions with MFA.
- Show nearby live music, map results, event details, and saved items.
- Review suggestions, corrections, venue claims, and new venue requests.
- Give venue teams and administrators access based on approved roles and additional security checks.
- Measure product interactions, prevent abuse, diagnose failures, and improve discovery.
- Send account, security, moderation, and support communications.
Location
With permission, the mobile app uses your foreground location to center the map, derive a general area label, and request events near you. Coordinates are transmitted with nearby-search and map requests. Jam Near Me does not maintain a history of your precise locations. You can deny or revoke permission in device settings and continue browsing with the default Long Island area or another selected search area.
Public and private information
Venue pages, published events, artist information, approved photos, and trust labels are public. Favorites, profiles, venue memberships, claim contact details, review notes, private proof, security factors, and account identifiers are not public. Public suggestions remain private to authorized reviewers until approved; they never publish automatically.
Service providers and disclosures
We disclose information to providers only as needed to operate the service. These providers support account access, data and file hosting, maps and location search, optional Google and Apple sign-in, account email delivery, analytics, and mobile app distribution. They process data under their own terms and privacy notices.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, to investigate misuse, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. Jam Near Me does not currently sell personal information or use it for cross-site behavioral advertising.
Analytics and browser storage
Production analytics record a limited set of interactions using pseudonymous identifiers. Raw analytics events are scheduled for deletion after 90 days, daily aggregates after 24 months, and transient rate-limit rows after one day. Essential browser or device storage supports authentication, recovery, OAuth, MFA, and a short-lived anonymous analytics session. Read the Cookies & Analytics notice for details.
Retention
| Data | Working retention rule |
|---|---|
| Account and favorites | While the account is active, then deleted through the account-deletion flow, subject to security and backup requirements. |
| Public venue and event records | While needed for discovery, historical accuracy, moderation, and business records. Outdated events are excluded from active discovery. |
| Suggestions and moderation | While pending and afterward as needed for accuracy, abuse prevention, disputes, and audit history. Personal attribution is removed during eligible account deletion. |
| Private claim proof | While needed to review the request, handle an appeal, prevent abuse, or meet legal obligations. Access remains restricted. |
| Raw analytics | 90 days, with daily maintenance monitoring. |
| Analytics aggregates | 24 months. |
Provider backups and security logs may persist for a limited period after deletion. Jam documents the operational schedule in its retention runbook and reviews it when data flows change.
Your choices and rights
- Browse the public map without an account.
- Remove saved events and venues at any time.
- Disable location permission in device settings.
- Review or update account, security, venue, and submission information available in the app.
- Withdraw a pending venue claim or listing request where the product permits.
- Request permanent account deletion.
- Contact us to request access, correction, or other privacy rights available in your jurisdiction.
Business data and deletion
Consumer account deletion removes or anonymizes personal consumer data. It does not silently delete public venues, events, legitimate moderation records, or business analytics. If you are the only owner of a venue, final account deletion is blocked until ownership is transferred, another owner is added, or a separate venue-close process is completed.
Children
Jam Near Me is not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 may not create accounts. Venue claims, listing requests, and business-management tools are for adults who are at least 18 and authorized by the business. If you believe a child provided personal information improperly, contact us.
Security
Jam uses access controls, venue-membership checks, additional verification for sensitive actions, private file storage, and security logging. No system is perfectly secure, so report suspected account or data misuse promptly.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as Jam Near Me changes. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice when required. For privacy questions or requests, email support@jamnearme.com.
